Tighe & Bond, a Westfield engineering and environmental consulting firm with an office in Worcester, said it has acquired Halvorson Design, a Boston firm specializing in landscape architecture, planning and urban design.
Terms of the deal, which closed on Thursday, were not disclosed.
Halvorson will continue to operate under its existing brand name, and the firm’s leadership and staff will remain at its Kingston Street offices in Boston. Some Tighe & Bond employees will also be joining the Halvorson office.
The acquisition expands the geographic footprint, capabilities and sector expertise of both firms, while joining their engineering and design capabilities, according to the Tighe announcement.
Additionally, Halvorson gives Tighe & Bond a presence in Boston, bringing its number of offices to 11 in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Maine.
Tighe & Bond President and CEO Robert Belitz said in the announcement as the engineering industry continues to evolve toward more complete solutions, it was important for Tighe to find a partner sharign the same vision, culture and technical expertise.
Robert Uhlig, Halvorson Design’s President and CEO, said the firms have collaborated in the past and he recognized the two firms were complementary.
