Worcester County recorded 217 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, and the death toll has risen by 15, according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
The new cases are a 2% increase from the total on Wednesday, and brought the total to 9,997 overall. Statewide, there were 1,114 new cases contributing to the 90,084 total.
The new deaths in Worcester County increase the tally to 640 as of Thursday. Throughout Massachusetts, there were 82 new deaths adding to the 6,148 total.
DPH also reports that there were 11,533 new coronavirus tests given in the last 24 hours, with 501,486 overall.
The City of Worcester reported 99 new cases contributing to 3,760 to date.
UMass Memorial Health Care and Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester report 239 total cases and 88 in intensive care. Between the hospital systems there have been a total of 238 fatalities, and 296 employees have tested positive for the virus.
MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick report 67 suspected and confirmed coronavirus cases, and Milford Regional Medical Center reports 31, according to DPH. In total, between the hospitals, there are 19 cases in the ICU. Other Central Massachusetts hospitals such as Harrington Hospital, Heywood Hospital, and HealthAlliance in Leominster report 42 confirmed or suspected cases, and 13 in intensive care.
Nationally, there have been close to 1.6 million coronavirus cases, and deaths have surpassed 94,000, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Throughout the globe, cases have exceeded almost 5.1 million cases, and more than 331,000 deaths.
