Three Boston law firms were the only New England firms represented on the annual list of the 50 best law firms for women compiled by Working Mother magazine and consulting group Flex-Time Lawyers.
Bingham McCutchen, Foley Hoag and Wilmer Hale were chosen among the 47 other most family-friendly, understanding and flexible firms in the country.
Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers said they received 30 percent more applications to be on the list than last year, and it appears as if law firms are becoming more female-friendly overall. The winners encourage the retention and advancement of women and won't deny women the opportunity to make partner if they focus more on family life than on racking up the most billable hours possible.
According to the survey, the number of female equity partners increased from 16 percent last year to 19 percent this year.
The list is dominated by firms from New York City, Washington, D.C., and California.
