Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. of Waltham said it has opened a technology center in Shanghai, China in order to serve customers in the region.
The company, which has operations in Franklin, is also planning to open a “demonstration center” in Beijing this month. The company has been doing business in China for 30 years and has significant manufacturing operations there.
The Shanghai technology center is intended to “manufacture products in China for China,” the company said.
Thermo Fisher makes laboratory equipment and products for the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, as well as for universities, government agencies and the environmental industry.
