Washington D.C.-based developer The Menkiti Group, which has invested heavily in downtown Worcester, has named David Roodberg as president of the firm. Bo Menkiti, who had been solely at the helm of the company, will retain the title of founder & CEO.
Roodberg was most recently president and CEO of DC-based real estate firm Horning, and served as chair of the Washington Housing Conservancy board during a time of significant growth, as well as several other D.C.-area boards addressing housing needs, according to a Monday press release from Menkiti Group.
“As a friend, advisor, and mentor to the organization over the last decade, I am confident David is the right executive at the right time to lead our development, capital, and commercial real estate business units as we expand our impact in the communities we serve,” said Menkiti in the press release.
Founded in 2004, The Menkiti Group is a 100% minority-owned certified business enterprise with a $2.4-billion development pipeline. The company’s approach to urban neighborhood transformation and investment is centered upon partnerships with capital investors, local developers, community stakeholders, and small business owners to create thriving urban spaces that drive sustainable neighborhood impact and produce economic growth, according to the press release.
The company has invested over $360 million in what it calls emerging urban neighborhoods. In Worcester, the company has purchased and renovated the Chatham Lofts, 526 & 554 Main St., and the former Shack’s building at 204 Main St.
Bo Menkiti was named a WBJ Business Leader of the Year in 2022.
