The Hanover: Small Businesses Trust Insurers More Than Financial Industry
Worcester-based Hanover Insurance Group Inc. has released survey results that say small business owners trust independent and commercial insurance agents and carriers more than they trust the rest of the financial services industry.
The Hanover said the findings are important because they come at a time when trust and confidence in the financial services industry is low, as evidenced by the Occupy Wall Street movement events across the country.
Of those surveyed, 86 percent said trust was "very important" when choosing insurance providers and that they trusted independent agents more than others. The study was conducted by the Pert Group, which interviewed 501 business owners with less than 30 employees.
