A Houston advanced polymers firm is laying off 68 workers at a Worcester facility on Millbrook Street.
LyondellBasell Industries informed the state through a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act (WARN) notification the layoffs would take place between September 30 and December 31.
The filing was submitted the week ending July 19.
The 120,000-square-foot facility was the former A. Schulman compounding plant at 53 Millbrook St. before that Ohio company was acquired by LyondellBasell in August for $2.25 billion.
At the time of this writing, it’s unclear if the plant is closing. Company officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Industry publication Plastics News quoted Jim Guilfoyle, executive vice president of the combined advanced polymer solutions unit, about plant closings, but he declined to comment on specifics, saying only he expected the company to achieve $150 million in cost synergies through the acquisition.
