Ten more coronavirus deaths in Worcester County were reported Thursday by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as the statewide case total topped 30,000.
Worcester County now has 84 reported deaths and 2,503 total cases, up 153, or 7%, in one day. That number is up from 1,461 a week ago.
The state now has 32,181 cases, up 2,263, or 8%, in one day. A week ago, the state had 18,941 cases. Massachusetts deaths now stand at 1,245 with 137 new cases reported Thursday.
Among the new Worcester County deaths were five women in their 80s, three men in their 80s and two men in their 60s.
The 153 new Worcester County cases reported Thursday are the county's fifth highest one-day total so far. The 10 new deaths are second to Wednesday's total of 17.
The City of Worcester announced 963 total cases, up 53, or 6%. Saint Vincent Hospital and UMass Memorial Health Care had 204 total inpatient cases between their combined facilities and 83 total intensive care patients. Their facilities have had 40 total coronavirus-related deaths, and 112 of their employees have tested positive for the virus.
The Department of Public Health also reported 8,750 new tests conducted for a total of 140,773.
National case totals have hit 654,000 with more than 31,600 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Internationally, more than 2.1 million cases have been reported and 142,000 deaths.
