A Franklin manufacturer of medical devices is offering a four-year program to build its own skilled workforce and offer new opportunities for its employees.
Tegra Medical’s four-year toolmaker apprentice program requires participants to enroll in a local engineering program. It’s designed to augment the company’s roster of highly-skilled toolmakers, Tegra Medical said.
“But it’s also providing unique opportunities for apprentices to jumpstart their careers and make life-altering decisions,” the company said in a press release Tuesday.
Nick Voyer, a five-year Tegra Medical employee is pursing an associates degree in manufacturing technology at Quinsigamond Community College. He was the second appreciative to finish the program.
“The program has allowed me to see first-hand what engineers do and has motivated me to move up to that level,” he said.
The program and in-depth manufacturing education has encouraged him to explore the engineering field, he said in the press release.
