A Franklin-based contractor manufacturer of medical devices has expanded its facilities in Mississippi and Costa Rica.
Tegra Medical announced the expansions Monday: a 3,200-square-foot facility in Hernando, Miss. and a 27,000-square-foot facility in Costa Rica.
The Mississippi facility is dedicated exclusively to prototyping and development of medical devices and is staffed with engineers and production personnel. It comes equipped with the same advanced manufacturing machines used for production, the company said.
Devices manufactured in the facility include implants, instruments used in complex spinal and trauma procedures, and instruments for joint and limb reconstruction.
The Costa Rica facility is dedicated to production, molding and assembly and includes a 5,000-square-foot cleanroom. The facility will help form a strong presence outside of the U.S., the company said.
The investment in the expansions represents a growth of the company’s product lines, Tegra Medical said.
Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that the company has built new facilities in those locations, but the company was already established in those locations.
