Tech Innovation Center Launches in Southborough
Science and technology innovation center TechSandBox Inc. announced its official launch and opening of its Southborough facility through a partnership with Becker College.
The organization, which is intended to help accelerate startups, has formed a board of directors and attracted several sponsors in the past few months, according to a press release and plans to host an official opening in May.
In a statement, CEO Barbara Finer said the group has worked to generate pre-launch momentum.
"We've also been holding pre-launch meetings with regional economic development committees in towns like Marlborough and Hopkinton, with the state, and with local property owners who are seeing the value in bringing cohesion to our dispersed group of science- and technology-based startups," she said.
The 5,500-square-foot TechSandBox facility is at Worcester-based Becker's Southborough campus which was formerly used by the school's Center for Accelerated & Professional Studies.
Colleen L. Bielitz, dean of the center, said all of the school's classes have been able to be consolidated to the Worcester campus.
"Our partnership with TechSandBox will provide Becker with opportunities for consultation and the ability to design relevant training programs to the organizations with whom we will partner," she said.
The facility at 337 Turnpike Rd. has space for collaboration, panels and seminars and networking events.
