Root & Press, a cafe and bookshop near Tatnuck Square in Worcester will close its current location and move to Shrewsbury Street.
Owner Richard Collins hopes to open at the new location at 156 Shrewsbury St. soon after the new year. The Tatnuck location will remain open for at least a few more months, Collins said in a Thursday email to WBJ.
Collins and Nicole Cote opened the shop at 623 Chandler St. in May 2019.
“We’re going to miss the neighborhood,” Collins said at a Thursday license commission meeting where the move was approved. “We looked all over to find a spot in that neighborhood, but nothing seemed to work out.”
The larger location will allow the shop to expand its retail options as well as its seating capacity, Collins said via email.
The cafe offers breakfast and lunch with vegetarian and vegan options.
The Shrewsbury Street location was previously occupied by a Lebanese restaurant Beirut Bite which closed in the spring.
