The annual food festival for Worcester’s restaurant row is set to return in June

Hosted by the Shrewsbury Street Merchants Association, the Taste of Shrewsbury Street will feature live music and food from 30 restaurants along the strip including Café Reyes, Redemption Rock Brewing, Volturno, and Vintage Grille and Gourmet Pizza, according to a Thursday press release from Taste of Shrewsbury Street.

The festival will commence at 5 p.m. June 18 on Shrewsbury Street with tickets priced at $25 if purchased before 11:59 p.m. June 17, and $30 if purchased the day-of.

"The Taste of Shrewsbury Street is a wonderful event to bring the community together and celebrate all that this area of Worcester has to offer. Vintage Grille is excited to participate again and to welcome back Stone County to entertain with their country and rock music," Chris Stone, owner of Vintage Grille, said in the release.

The festival is the Shrewsbury Street Merchants Association’s largest fundraiser of the year with sponsors including Worcester-based Webster First Federal Credit Union, Discover Central Massachusetts, and Leominster-based Fidelity Bank.

For the first time in the event’s history, attendees will be able to vote for which restaurant they think has the best tasting food, with the winning eatery taking home a $500 cash prize and the runner up a $300 cash prize.

“Taste of Shrewsbury Street is one of the most unique food festivals in the region,” Monique Messier Joseph, president of Discover Central Massachusetts, said in the release. “For those who’ve never visited Worcester’s Restaurant Row, this event is a perfect opportunity to try something from each participating restaurant. We’re proud to support a thriving hospitality culture, and we expect the event to draw people from outside the region and state.”

Proceeds from the festival will go towards beautification of Shrewsbury Street and local children’s charities, according to the release.
