WHO GETS THE MONEY?
AT&T has agreed to pay $105 million in a federal-state settlement over unauthorized cellphone charges, known as "mobile cramming," with Massachusetts receiving $327,000, according to the state attorney general's office. Here's one reader's reaction to our Oct. 10 online story:
"So how will this affect us AT&T Mobile customers in Massachusetts? Will any of us reap any of the $327,000 settlement to the state? We overpaid the bill; how do we get reimbursed? Or does the state just
receive the fines?"

SHOULD EMC AND VMWARE SPLIT?
Elliott Management, an activist investor in EMC, believes the Hopkinton-based data storage giant should spin off its VMware unit to increase shareholder value. Should it? We posed that question on our LinkedIn page and got this response:
"Not sure if this move would make sense or not, but it is interesting that HP and Symantec are (splitting) as well. EBay and PayPal parting ways too."
