Sales professionals have a general positive outlook on their industry, according to a new Monster.com survey. The survey found than 42 percent of respondents felt confident they could find a new job if they needed one. Meanwhile, 58 percent surveyed said they would relocate for the right opportunity.
Maynard-based Monster said its data show that retail salespersons, supervisors of sales workers and wholesale and manufacturing representatives are the highest demand sales positions.
“With retail sales currently ranking as one of the most in-demand jobs in the country, sales professionals have reason to feel optimistic about their job prospects,” said Jeffrey Quinn, vice president of Monster’s Global Insights.
Quinn said higher-end department stores, commercial banking centers and home centers are the top three industries hiring sales professionals.
“This is largely indicative of seasonal hires being made ahead of the busy back-to-school and holiday seasons,” he said. “Within the retail industry, we have seen particular high demand for salespersons, supervisors and cashiers.”
Although most respondents thought positively of the sales outlook, 74 percent said it’s more difficult to find a job than it was a year ago.
The top cities for sales jobs are New York City and Chicago, with Boston ranking No. 10, according to Monster.
