Economic activity in the non-manufacturing sector contracted in November, according to an Institute for Supply Management report.
The report, based on a survey of purchasing and supply executives, brought the institute’s non-manufacturing index to 37.3 percent, a 7.1 percent decrease from October. It was the second consecutive month of contraction in the non-manufacturing sector.
The only industry reporting growth in the survey was the health care and social assistance industry. All others reported general slow-downs, the curtailment of new programs, store closures and employee layoffs.
