Survey: New England Business Leaders More Optimistic

New England's business leaders are "cautiously optimistic" about the economy, according to the results of a survey conducted by the National Association of Corporate Directors' New England Chapter.

Nearly 80 percent of survey respondents said the economy will recover either slightly or significantly within the next 12 to 24 months. Another 16 percent said the economy would remain the same over that period of time and 5 percent said it would worsen.

The NACD surveyed 145 business leaders who serve on corporate or nonprofit boards of directors or hold other leadership positions.

About 63 percent of respondents said the New England economy is stronger than the nation's and 42 percent expect the New England economy to recover from the recession before the rest of the country.
