A recent survey of CFOs conducted by Robert Half Management Resources found that a majority of businesses are not planning to become more environmentally friendly in 2010.
When asked whether they expect their companies' emphasis on green initiatives to increase, decrease, or remain the same in the next 12 months, 68 percent of respondents said they anticipated no changes.
An additional 23 percent of respondents said that they expected only a slight increase in environmental efforts.
The survey was based on more than 1,400 interviews with CFOs from a random sample of U.S. companies.
"Many companies may already be pursuing green initiatives and not feel they need further investment in the near term," said Paul McDonald, executive director of Robert Half Management Resources, in a press release. "For other businesses, priorities may have shifted from environmental initiatives to returning to profitability, given the difficult economy."
