The outlook for hiring in professional fields is mixed, according to the Robert Half Professional Employment Report.
Ten percent of executives interviewed as part of the survey said they plan to increase the number of full-time employees in professional occupations during the first quarter of the year. However, another 5 percent predicted staffing cutbacks.

The survey also found that law firms in particular are expecting to add to their payrolls. Thirty-one percent of those in the legal profession are predicting an increase in hiring. The transportation and construction sectors are also projecting brisk activity for the quarter.
While unemployment stands at historic levels nationwide, employers are still having trouble finding qualified candidates. More than half (51%) of participants in the survey said that it's "challenging to find skilled professionals today."
