Atlanta cannabis retailer Surterra Wellness has made another acquisition in Franklin, this time acquiring research company Molecular Infusions, a maker of a cannabis inhaler.
The acquisition comes less than a week after Surterra completed the acquisition of Franklin-based New England Treatment Access (NETA), one of the first two marijuana firms to open a recreational shop in Massachusetts last November. NETA is a retailer of Molecular Infusion’s fine-mist inhaler.
The terms of either transaction were not disclosed.
In addition to a cannabis mist inhaler, Molecular Infusions is developing oral and topical delivery formats to better control dosing and deliver more predictable and targeted health benefits.
Molecular Infusions was founded and led by cannabis entrepreneur and NETA co-founder Kevin Fisher and Dr. Jeff Karp, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
In a statement, Fisher said the company’s Massachusetts biolab will continue to hire scientists to develop cannabis delivery technologies.
