Three local companies are getting a total of nearly $280,000 in federal stimulus funding to install solar power systems.
The money comes from the second round of the state-administered Commonwealth Solar Stimulus grant program. Altogether, the new grants will provide $4 million to install equipment capable of generating 3.8 megawatts of solar power at 46 sites around the state.
The local awards were as follows:
- Peter Central LLC in Ayer, $118,185 for a 111.37 kilowatt project
- Honey Hill Farms LLC in Hopkinton, $49,300 for a 36.8 kilowatt project
- Sturbridge Market Realty in Sturbridge, $112,320 for a 99.82 kilowatt project.
The first round of grants, announced in April, provided $4 million for 56 solar projects.
