The state posted job gains between May and June in 10 of its 12 labor markets as seasonal employment ramped up, according to the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
Most areas of the state, including Worcester, saw fractional gains of 0.6 percent or less. The Barnstable area on Cape Cod sported an 8.4 percent gain and the Pittsfield area posted a 3.2 percent gain between May and June.
Over the year, however, the entire state with exception of the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy statistical area, saw job losses . Over the year, Worcester lost 700 jobs, a 0.3 percent decrease.
The state's June unemployment rate was 5.3 percent. In May, unemployment stood at 4.7 percent. In June 2007, the rate was 4.6 percent.
