The IT industry has blurred the lines when it comes to what’s appropriate to wear to a job interview, according to the results of a Robert Half Technology survey.
The survey asked CIOs what attire was most appropriate for an interview at their companies and 35 percent said a traditional business suit was best. Another 26 percent went to the opposite end of the wardrobe spectrum and said khakis and a collared shirt were best. Twenty-four percent of respondents said tailored separates such as a skirt and blouse or pants and jacket were most appropriate.
Nine percent said jeans and a polo shirt made the best interview ensemble.
Half, an international staffing agency, said job applicants should err on the side of overdressing.
