Methods Machine Tools named Richard Alton, formerly of Wisconsin-based Manitou Americas, as its new CEO.
Alton will assume the role immediately, according to a Tuesday press release from Methods Machine Tools.
Since 2017, Alton served as CEO of Manitou Americas and president of the Compact Equipment Products Division, overseeing the company’s $400 million business of manufactured construction and material handling equipment.
Prior to Manitou, Alton spent 19 years at Pennsylvania- based JLG Industries, an Oshkosh Corp. company, including 15 years in sales and sales management in which he helped grow the company’s $1-billion international business. Additionally, he helped develop, and later served as general manager of, JLG’s strategic alliance with Caterpillar.
“I am thrilled to be taking the helm at Methods and working with a talented and dedicated team,” Alton said in the press release. “The history of the company has long focused on premium machines tools, industry-leading automation and engineering, and exceptional customer support.”
The company’s last president and CEO, Mark Wright, left the company in February and now serves as president and chief operating officer of Atlas Fibre in Northbrook, Illinois, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Sudbury-based Methods Machine Tools was founded in 1958 has 10 manufacturing facilities around the United States and distribution centers throughout North America, serving a variety of industries. It primarily makes machines for other manufacturers.
