The Clarion Carriage House Inn, a 39-room boutique hotel in Sudbury, recently opened a restaurant offering breakfast and lunch, with Sunday brunches to be added very soon, according to Russell Smith, general manager of the inn.
"We had a restaurant about 10 years ago but we got rid of it. Our customers have continued to inquire about full menu breakfasts and the community inquired about us making breakfast available to the public," Smith said.
The Clarion Carriage House Inn & Grille concentrates on using what local farmers raise, he said.
"All our eggs come from local people, our maple syrup comes from Vermont and we try to buy as much local produce as possible so it is as fresh and healthy as possible," Russell said.
The restaurant has already received a warm reception from the community, he said, and Sunday brunch will be available beginning on May 17.
The hotel also bakes its own chocolate cookies that are available at the front desk as guests sign in.
The hotel is celebrating its 25th year, and has 39 rooms, including deluxe rooms and suites. It has been owned by the Clarion Hotel chain for the last 15 years. Choice Hotels, which operates the Clarion chain, was started by the Quality Inn brand in the 1930s, and now has many other brands including Comfort Suites, EconoLodge and Rodeway Inn.
It is about a mile down the road on Route 20 from the historic Wayside Inn. During the week, most visitors are on business trips involving local companies and on the weekends are attending events, such as weddings and bar mitzvahs.
The restaurant's hours are 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch. The Sunday piano brunch is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The inn is located at 738 Boston Post Road, or Route 20, in Sudbury.
