More than two out of five home health agency executives plan to expand their service offerings in the next two years, according to a survey from Framingham industry analysis firm Definitive Healthcare.
While 43% said they expected to grow, far more — 73% — said they plan to expand or start offering specialized care services, with an emphasis on the treatment of specific chronic diseases or conditions, according to the survey of 159 executives, which Definitive Healthcare released Tuesday.
Respondents also said they expect a broader participation in home health care through telehealth technology, which allows medical personnel to communicate with patients remotely.
Finding enough workers to support expansion was cited by 62% of executives as the biggest challenge for their agency.
Jason Krantz, the CEO of Definitive Healthcare, said the home healthcare industry is set for rapid expansion with an aging American population, along with chronic diseases and conditions generally falling into an older age range, including Alzheimer’s, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes and cardiac diseases.
