Working for Worcester (W4W), a student-run nonprofit started at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, will construct a playground on Saturday at Union Hill School, a public elementary school in the city. This construction marks the organization’s first playground build outside of its annual Build Day event, typically held in April.
The project is part of Working for Worcester’s Sustainable Impact Initiative, which aims to foster more sustainable community development. It is sponsored by Consigli Construction Co. of Milford and the Worcester-based United Way of Central Massachusetts, according to an Oct. 24 press release from Working for Worcester.
Union Hill’s principal contacted W4W in September with a request for playground construction, according to the press release. As part of the sustainable development initiative, the construction can take place before the April Build Day.
"We're immensely proud of this playground project and the positive impact it will have on the lives of students and the surrounding community. It's a testament to the power of collaboration and community support. This playground not only enriches the educational environment but also fosters a sense of unity and well-being," said W4W CEO Aidan Busconi in the press release.
The construction will take place at 7 a.m. on November 4.
