Maynard-based Stratus Technologies has acquired Littleton's Marathon Technologies Corp., its parent company has announced.
Stratus develops products and services to help prevent downtime and lost data. Meanwhile, Marathon provides software with similar goals.
Stratus said that it will benefit from the acquisition by expanding its partner and customer base, and offering a broader software portfolio. It plans to emphasize software-based initiatives while improving the availability and affordability of fault-tolerant computing.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Marathon's employees in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan will be offered positions within Stratus. According to Stratus' website, 36 of Marathon's 42 employees are based at the company's Littleton headquarters.
