Stow manufacturer to make $4.1M worth of B-52 bomber parts

A Stow division of a California manufacturer has been awarded a $4.1-million contract to produce parts for the U.S. Air Force’s B-52 aircraft.
The two-year contract for Communications & Power Industries (CPI), awarded by Defense Logistics Agency Aviation, calls for CPI’s Radant Technologies Division in Stow to manufacture new forward nose radomes to replace existing radomes on the long-range bomber.
The replacements are expected to be of higher performance and more supportable than previous products, CPI said in a Thursday press release.
CPI’s Radant Technologies Division has worked with B-52s in the past, including through a seven-year, $45-million contract executed in 2011 to replace radomes on the aircraft.
Tim Smith, president of CPI Radant Technologies, said the aircraft is expected to remain a critical asset for the U.S. Air Force through 2040.
“CPI Radant Technologies Division has proven that it is up for the challenge and is proud of its 100 percent on-time delivery record for this program," Smith said in a press release.
