Major supermarket chain Stop & Shop said it will relocate its store at 196 E. Main St. in Milford to another location in town.
Stop & Shop spokesman Philip Tracey said in a statement Thursday the new store location at Milford Crossing, the site of a former K-Mart store at the intersection of Medway Road and Beaver Street, will better serve customers.
The new state-of-the-art, 66,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open in the fall. Designed to be energy efficient, it will feature an upgraded, market-style produce department with more organic offerings, a wider natural and organic food selection, an expanded deli and prepared foods department, and a full-service meat and seafood department, Tracey said.
Stop & Shop has had a Milford location for nearly 30 years.
