Talks between the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) and Stop & Shop Supermarket Cos. of Quincy were expected to resume today, according to mediators working with the parties involved.
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, which has two mediators helping with the negotiations, put out a statement on Saturday saying they encouraged both sides to convene again today.
Stop & Shop is negotiating a contract with five UFCW local units affecting supermarket locations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut and some 43,000 employees in New England.
