Davis Farmland in Sterling will celebrate Earth Day on Friday by unveiling a 30.2-kilowatt photovoltaic installation.
The farm, which is known for its corn maze and educational children's programs, has installed 144 solar panels on the roof of its barn with the help of Lunenburg-based Moss Hollow Solar.
The solar installation will be the largest in Sterling, according to the farm, which said the installation will generate 36,900 kilowatt hours of electricity, enough to power four homes.
The farm will unveil the panels at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony. A guest will be selected to "flip the switch" to make the system go live. Attendees will receive a free pass to the farm for the day.
