The Patrick-Murray administration said it will consolidate six state grant programs under a single, new MassWorks Infrastructure Program designed to make getting money for projects easier for municipalities.
Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray announced the new program this morning at a Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting.
Under the new program, the administration of six state grants will be consolidated under a single entity. Those programs are: Public Works Economic Development Grants; Community Development Action Grants; Growth District Initiative Grants; the Massachusetts Opportunity Relocation and Expansion Program; the Small Town Rural Assistance Program and the Transit Oriented Development Grant Program.
As part of the consolidation, municipalities will be offered a streamlined process for applying for state economic development grants. All of the grants will now follow a single solicitation schedule, follow a single set of rules and reporting requirements and a single application.
