The YMCA of Central Massachusetts will install improvements at its five branches, using money from the state’s finance and development agency.
MassDevelopment issued the YMCA a tax-exempt bond of $22.7 million for the work, the two organizations said Thursday in a statement.
The plans for each branch include the following:
• At the Boroughs Family Branch in Westborough, a 14,000-square-foot aquatic center will be added.
• At Greendale Family Branch in Worcester, a 2,000-square-foot splash pad play area will be installed.
• At Camp Lowe in Lancaster, a 3,000-square-foot amphitheater will be built and the septic system will be upgraded.
• At Central Community Branch in Worcester and Montachusett Community Branch in Fitchburg — as well as at Buroughs and Greendale — there will be improvements and renovations to various wellness areas, teen centers, locker rooms, lobby areas, and computer lab space, the statement said.
The projects are expected to create 26 jobs and support 47 construction jobs, the YMCA of Central Massachusetts and MassDevelopment said.
