The state Department of Revenue collected $2.02 billion in taxes in September, a 14.2 percent increase from the same month a year ago and $197 million above the benchmark set by the department earlier this year.
Income tax collections were up 7.8 percent to $1.04 billion. Withholding collections were up 5.7 percent.
Sales tax collections totaled $400 million, a 4.6 percent increase from a year ago. Meals tax collections increased 3.9 percent.
The state collected $420 million in corporate and business taxes, a 52.8 percent increase.
Year-to-date tax collections are up 6.7 percent. Collections for the first quarter were $4.76 billion, a 10-percent increase from a year prior and $205 million above benchmark.
