State providing $100K grants for coworking spaces to adapt to coronavirus

Coworking spaces looking to purchase new equipment or undergo building improvements intended to implement social distancing and coronavirus-related safety standards may apply for grants of up to $100,000 through the MassDevelopment’s Collaborative Workspace Program, the agency announced on Monday.

The funding opportunity marks the program’s fifth round.Ā

ā€œAs the commonwealth continues to move through the reopening process on a path to recovery, collaborative workspaces will remain an important part of our business landscape across the state,ā€ said Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy, in a statement.

To date, the Collaborative Workspace Program has distributed $8.4 million across 136 awards, according to the announcement.

Proposal information is available online and responses are due by 5 p.m. Aug. 10.
