State officials are hoping to train 1,400 workers for “green” jobs as part of a $6 million stimulus grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.
Gov. Deval Patrick said the grant will go toward training unemployed, underemployed or incumbent workers in energy efficient building, construction and retrofit techniques. Training will also be provided in renewable and electric power, biofuels, energy efficiency assessment, sustainable manufacturing and environmental protection.
