State Help For AJ Wright Workers

The state is providing $700,000 to employees who will be put out of work by Framingham-based TJX Cos Inc.‘s closing of the AJ Wright distribution center in Fall River.

The state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce development announced the grant, which will be distributed to local career centers and used to provide job counseling and training to the displaced workers. The state’s Rapid Response Committee is working with employees and career centers in Fall River and Attleboro will also be assisting them.

TJX announced last month that it is eliminating its A.J. Wright brand. About 800 people work at the Fall River location.
