State Awards $2.47M In Waste-Reduction Grants

The Patrick administration has awarded more than $240,000 in grants to Central Massachusetts communities to boost composting, recycling and waste reduction.

The grants are part of $2.47 million the administration has awarded across the state.

“Governor Patrick … has made it clear that we must reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment for future generations,” Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rick Sullivan said. “These grants will help to achieve the goals laid out in the Global Warming Solutions Act and create jobs in the process.”

These communities received the most money in Central Massachusetts: Ayer, $12,800; Medway, $60,667; Natick, $145,437; and Spencer, $8,500.
