State auditors want authority to audit Rentschler Field

State auditors believe that they can save taxpayers money if Connecticut lawmakers give them the green light to perform the annual audit of Rentschler Field.

Currently, an independent auditing firm performs the annual audits of the stadium’s financial operations. In the auditors’ annual report to the General Assembly, the office of State Auditors of Public Accounts recommended that the audits of Rentschler Field operations go through their office upon the request of the Office of Policy and Management.

The auditors commented in the report that “cost savings to the stadium would be attainable if authority was given for our office to perform these audits.”

The General Assembly would need to modify a subsection of the state’s General Statues to authorize the auditors’ request.
