Staples Survey: U.S. Workers Are Uncomfortable

Nearly half of U.S. office workers say they'd be more productive if they had a more comfortable workspace, according to a survey by Staples Advantage, the business-to-business arm of Framingham-bases Staples Inc.

The company, which sells office furniture, found that 86 percent of office workers report some discomfort from their office setup. In a more comfortable office environment, one in three of them say they'd be more pleasant to work with, almost one in two say they'd be more productive and 35 percent say they'd feel less stressed.

Chairs provoked the most complaints from survey respondents, with 54 percent saying the best change to their office space would be a more ergonomic chair. Nearly half of them give their current chair a grade of C or lower.
