As international travel restrictions loosen around the world, Framingham-based Staples is launching same-day passport photo services in several of its U.S. stores.
The retail company said in a Monday press release that customers will be able to have their passport photos within minutes at more than 1,000 of its locations across the country. Staples also said that some of its stores now offer TSA PreCheck enrollment, through a partnership with French security company IDEMIA.
The new offerings are the Framingham company’s way of tapping into the resurgence of international travel. Consumers and businesses are expected to start traveling again over the next few months as COVID-19 travel requirements continue to loosen around the world, the company said.
“After a long hiatus, our customers are starting to feel more comfortable traveling again,” Brian Coupland, senior vice president of merchandising at Staples U.S. Retail, said. “With COVID testing requirements recently lifted in the U.S. for international travel and the number of travelers steadily increasing, Staples wanted to provide customers with quick and convenient services that makes preparing for their trip as easy as a stop at their nearby Staples store.”
Photos will be government-compliant and can be used for ID cards, permanent resident cards, select international passport or visa applications, and more.
Participating Staples locations can be found under the store locator function on the company’s website, staples.com.
