Framingham-based office supplies retailer Staples Inc. saw its sales climb past the $25 billion mark in 2011, as profits grew by $102.7 million in its 25th year in business, the company announced.
For the year, sales grew from $24.5 billion to just over $25 billion. Profits were $984.6 million, up 11.6 percent from 2010.
For the fourth quarter, Staples earned $283.5 million in profit, up from $274.7 million during the fourth quarter of 2010. Revenues for the quarter were $6.4 billion, up $44.3 million.
North American deliveries were up 2 percent for the year while international deliveries were up 3 percent. International orders began to fall off in the fourth quarter, and the company said it expects soft demand from Europe this year.
