Amid ongoing restructuring and redirection for the Framingham office supply store, Staples’ board has named interim CEO Shira Goodman to the positions of president and CEO effective immediately.
Goodman, who joined Staples in 1992, was selected due to her understanding of the company as well as the leadership she showed serving as interim CEO, according to Robert Sulentic, Independent Lead Director of the company.
During her career at Staples, Ms. Goodman has served in key leadership positions, including president, North American operations; president, North American commercial; executive vice president of global growth; executive vice president of human resources, and executive vice president of marketing. Ms. Goodman was appointed interim chief executive officer in May 2016.
Goodman said she is committed to Staples’ current path forward that includes transformation of the company to products and services outside of office supplies.
