Framingham-based office supply company Staples Inc. has hired Faisal Masud as chief technology officer, a new role.
Masud will be responsible for both e-commerce and global technology, reporting directly to Staples President and CEO Shira Goodman, according to a company statement released Monday.
Masud joined the company in May 2013, and previously served as executive vice president of global e-commerce. Under his direction, Staples said it added capabilities such as online purchasing and in-store pick-up, same-day delivery service, and expanded channels for vendors and customers to sell and order products.
An industry veteran, Masud formerly worked for Chicago discount provider Groupon Inc., where he managed global strategy and execution for the company’s Groupon Goods’ division.
