In a bid to continue to grow its service-based offerings and diversify out from office supply sales, Framingham-based Staples has announced expanded mobile phone repair services.
The company announced that the TekDry water damage recovery service will be added to 600 stores nationwide by mid-November. The service is currently offered in 82 stores. The service costs $69.99 but is free if it does not work, according to a release from Staples.
The move marks a continuing diversification for the retailer that is still reeling from a failed bid to buy competitor Office Depot. Since that time, the company announced a move to move beyond office supplies, having recently launched coworking spaces within three locations.
