Stanley Works nearly doubles income
First quarter net income at New Britain-based Stanley Works climbed 78 percent to $68 million, up from $38 million in the same quarter last year, the tool-maker reported. Earnings per diluted share grew to 80 cents, up from 45 cents in the year ago period, while net sales grew 10 percent to over $1 billion. Yesterday morning the company declared a 30 cents per share quarterly dividend.
