Vanguard Health Systems, the parent company of MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, has rolled out a personal health records system for employees.
The company offered the system to "a select group of employees," but intends to make the system available to "the larger Vanguard employee population" before the end of the year. It will also be offered to patients of the company's 15 hospitals and other facilities.
The system is the Dossia Personal Health Record. Dossia is a nonprofit organization made up of several large American employers, including AT&T and Intel, that seeks to make health information more readily available to employees.
Last year, Wal Mart began offering the Dossia system to its employees.
The system allows employers to deliver benefits and other health-related initiatives in a more efficient and cost-effective way and allows employees greater access to health information.
