Spellane Chosen as Public Service Chair

State Rep. Robert P. Spellane, of the 13th Worcester District, has been appointed house chair of the Joint Committee on Public Service.

As a leader of the committee, Spellane said he will work on pension reform issues and help address the question of how budget cuts will affect public employees.

The committee handles matters related to salaries, civil service and retirement of public employees, as well as collective bargaining for state employees.

Before the appointment, Spellane served as house vice chair of the Joint Committee on Financial Services. His district includes portions of Worcester and the Town of Paxton.
