Worcester-based Spectrum Health Systems has hired its first chief information officer to lead information-technology programs to support business operations, the substance abuse treatment provider announced.
Robert Brandner will serve as the organization’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security officer and ensure compliance with health care industry regulations for securing protected information and maintaining security of all of Spectrum’s IT systems and data. He is also responsible for leading the IT department.
A resident of West Hartford, Conn., Brandner comes to Spectrum after a long career in IT enterprise architecture at Dell Computers. There, he focused on infrastructure assessments and strategic plan development for the company’s health care and higher education customers.
Brandner’s hire comes after Spectrum recently moved IT operations in house.
